Why microdose testosterone?
Why we believe the Bolt.Health Testosterone Microdosing Protocol is superior to traditional TRT.
Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is gaining in popularity among men over 40 (and even younger), and for good reason:
T levels for men of all ages are down 25-50% since the 1980’s, meaning that the average 22 y.o. man today has a T level roughly equal to that of a 67 y.o. man in 2000. It’s a silent epidemic that is impacting men’s health and society at large far more than we recognize.
When people think about testosterone, they often imagine bodybuilders and “ripped” fitness bros. While having a healthy T level does make it easier to add muscle mass and burn fat, that’s NOT the primary goal of TRT.
The goal of TRT is optimal health and longevity—in other words, feeling, looking, and performing your best into your 40’s, 50’s, and beyond.
The symptoms of low T can make day-to-day life miserable:
Low energy
Reduced libido & ED
Poor sleep & exercise recovery
Depression, anxiety, & irritability
Brain fog & difficulty concentrating
Loss of muscle mass & bad workouts
Depressed immune system
Even more alarming, studies suggest that men with low T have significantly lower long term survival rates compared to men with normal levels.
At Bolt.Health we believe that TRT is the best bang for the buck in men’s health when T levels are low and symptoms are present. But the protocol recommended by most doctors is outdated and suboptimal for health and longevity.
We believe the most effective and safe way to administer TRT is with a microdose protocol that mimics the body’s natural production of testosterone—which happens as a small “pulse” each morning.
It makes common sense and in practice it seems to work better—our patients have been able to achieve healthy T levels with a lower dose of medication and more importantly they feel better compared to traditional TRT protocols.
With ANY medication, the objective is to find the minimum effective dose and testosterone is no different. You want to take the smallest amount that restores a healthy T level, eliminates your symptoms, and makes you feel great. Most men on the microdose protocol find that they can achieve healthy T levels of 900 mg/dl or higher on a daily microdose of just 10-12 mg, which is just a couple drops of medication.
This microdose is delivered via a subcutaneous injection using a tiny 30 gauge needle that is only 5/16” long first thing in the morning. It takes about two minutes to self administer into the fat of the abdomen or legs and it’s virtually painless.
